What is the production process of Silicon Sulfide (SiS2) Powder
1. Burn aluminum powder in the crucible with extra sulfur. The aluminum sulfide mixture is crushed, and then mixed with slightly excess silica. Mixture is put in a shingle. Place shingle into quartz tube. Heat quartz tube with dry nitrogen. The reaction starts around 1100. At 1200 to 1300, the sublimated Sis2 will adhere to the lower temperature region of the quartz tube. After purification, it's sublimated in nitrogen or vacuum. You can prepare tetragonal Sis2 by heating the silicon-sulfur mixture at 5x103MPa 700.
2. Add sulfur to decompose the silicon at a lower heat. By heating 96g sulfur and 39g Si(SC2H5)4 for 10 minutes at 200°C, you can produce ethylthioane and Si-disulfide. The latter is then dissolved in benzene.
