Earlier February 19, 2020, after taking off from LaGuardia Airport in New York on Air Canada AC715, the right wheel of the right main landing gear was lost. Still, fortunately, the aircraft landed safely on runway 23 of Toronto Airport. No one was injured on the plane.
The flight was carried out by an A319-114 with registration number C-GAQL, with a 23-year age, and the cause of the accident is under investigation.
Canadian investigators observed that the external bearings on the Airbus A319 main landing gear assembly had failed, and the component had lost its wheels before arriving in Toronto.
The Canadian Transportation Safety Board said that according to images of the plane arriving from LaGuardia, New York, on February 18, damage to its bearings caused the wheel assembly to "slide out of the axle."
He said that the axle nuts remained "safe." Then the information provided by the FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board indicated that "fully inflated" wheels had been found and retrieved.
After the main landing gear wheel on the outside of the right hand was lost, the A319 crew requested to fly over the Toronto Tower for a visual inspection.
