Shanker Mahadevan, trained extensively in Hindustani and Carnatic classical music as well as Western, is a software engineer. But his passion finally steered him towards a career in music. Besides doing jingles, he also sang a ghazal for close friend Zakir Hussain and Sultan Khan in Muhaffiz, the Merchant-Ivory film.
