I heard that deva had composed a symphony and sent it to RPO, but the guys there are keeping it on hold since it seemed that they had already heard that symphony somewhere before;))

Adhila thappae illai Vijay. Even today u can see a lot of people playing Bach, Beethovan etc.. in number of versions in symphonies. Symphonies are made to be used again and again. May be that is the perfect place for Deva.

Hey guys,
PLease understand that this Devathi Deva is one of the regular DFers who is having some good time by making us all look like fools andinvolve us in some stupic arguments for nothing. Please don't waste your time trying to argue with this Devathi Deva.. can't you realize that he's just having some good fun...?
Moreover the moment someone says that he/she is a fan of deva, one could realize that either he/she must be joking or he/she should of his/her senses...

Hello all,
I'm posting this with tears in my eyes, cursing myself for not appreciating the genius that is our Thenisai Thendral all these days.
I had the great fortune of watching a "Tamil Movie Melodies" cassette, and it had the songs of "PudhumaiPithan" in it. I should consider myself a "Bhajyashali" to see the song "Ujala Ujala...", really a treat to your eyes and the best of the treat to your ears. The song had the great looking John Babu, yes the very same person who danced in "otha rooba tharen.." from Nattupura Pattu. The dance movements are one of the best anyone come across in any kind of entertainment media.
Now the song itself: With very great Lyrical contents, set to "Dubanghuri" raaga and "Ezhavoorvala" thala, what more can any Sangeetha PRiyan ask for. Rendered beautifully by our Deva Sir himself (what mystical, divine voice..!), this song has the best of the combination of our folk music, carnatic, and tinges of Ashkenazy..! TOtally an unbelievable song...! aha.. ujala ujala....!
Seriously, all you guys who make fun of our Deva sir are morons.. he is the divine musical avatar.. he is music personified...!
Guys, Please listen to "Ujala Ujala" before you comment on our deva sir.. you are more fortunate if you are able to see the video with the Natya of John Babu.....!
I have to home and listen to "ujala..ujala..."...!

This might be an old revelation. I was listening to oldies 100 station in D.C and I was surprised to hear the starting music from the "pulveli, pulveli" song from aasai. I cant believe the extent to which deva must have researched in bringing out the western classics to the illeterate tamil masses. Long live his literacy drive!!

Happened to hear "kandhan irukkumidam" song from "Kaadhalaey nimmadhi". I think the charanam of this song resembles that of the song "thottathila paathi katti" from "Velaikkaaran". Correct me if I'm wrong.

Also, from "Kaadhaley nimmadhi" there is another song "vidha vidhamaa soapu seeppu kannaadi". It had some funny lines "daavu daavu daavuda... daavillaatti dieuda". I know it was sung (?!) by Deva. Did he write the lyrics also?

I remember this interview of Deva where he was explaining how the song "Dodda Beta Rotu" song came about. Seems he had "put" the tune with some dummy lyrics (avarukku Hindi theriyaadhu :-)), and when Vaali asked to listen to the song, he mumbled it along with these lyrics. Vaali liked the lyrics very much and asked that the first couple of lines remain the same. The song is an atta copy of "Akhiyan Milaon". I don't recall, Deva "humbly" admitting that he copied. He didn't even claim to be inspired.

I think that i might have mentioned this before, but in any case the second interlude in 'april maathathil' from the film vaali is a direct lift from the flute interlude in the song 'one night in bangkok' by murray head, a popular song from the 80s.

I really love the song "kanave kalaiyadhe" from kannadhire thondrinaal. I keep listening to that repeatedly.. Is that lifted? But it is a good song and good job by unnikrishnan, Chitra.

Deva....Deva....has given us some good hits, for instance I was revolted when I heard "Yenn Manathai Kollai Adithavaale" from Kalluri Vaasal because there was a humming part in the song that was taken straight out of Michael Jackson's Free Willy theme song from the movie that was an international hit. However, the song is one of my all time favourites now. I was also revolted when I heard the beginning part of "Annamalai Annamalai" from Rajini's Annamalai, the music bit which was taken straight out of Beethoven's symphony...Then there was "Salomiya" from Kannethirey Thondrinaal, whose chorus was outright stolen from "Sayyoni", the international hit single from Junoon, the Pakistani Sufi band. Things like this make me question Deva's creativity, end everytime I listen to one of his songs it's like a game of trying to guess "Now where could have Deva taken this tune from??"
Do I have to mention "Akila Akila" from Nerekke Ner which was nothing but Bob Marley's classic Reggae hit "Buffalo Soldier" with lyrics in Tamil? Need I go on to prove my point? How about the recent "Oh Uncle Oh Uncle" from Minsara Kanna, the middle part of the song has a distinct resemblance to "Unnai Arinthaal..Nee Unnai Arinthaal"
"Nilavai Konduva Kathilill Kathi Vai" from Vaali? Well, here again poor Michael jackson has been plagiarised...The chorus is incredibly similar to "They Don't Really Care About Us" from one of his album.
But then again, Deva is still up there holding his place with the rest of the MD's ...so maybe there is SOMETHING about him? What do you guys think?
