FEMALE SINGER'S ARE IGNORED BY MD'S.

I find that a lot of TFM fans prefer male singers to females. I am not a FEMINIST! When someone is asked who there favorite siner is most usually mention Yesudas or SPB. To report, in TFM the females are usually trained singers. This is not the same for SPB and MANO. Is this because Tamil people are being biased.
LOOKING FORWARD TO ALL YOUR COMMENTS.

music is a reflection of the screen (atleast in TN) nobody asks for a song from a kr vijaya movie or from a saroja devi movie. in many concerts we have received requests from the audience for a mgr song, sivaji song, kamal song or rajini song. if this is the state of heroines what can one say about those who sing for them? i would even go to the extent of saying that this is a national phenomenon. latha mangeshkar might be one exception but even there heavyweights like rafi, kishore and mukesh were more sought after.
back to tamil nadu, i know several (i am one of those) who relish and savour the melodies of P Susheela in her own right. some songs like naalai indha vellai parthu (uyarandha manidhan), athai madi methaidi (karpagam) evoke very strong nostalgia and appreciation.
i fully agree with the topic that female singers have not received their due but i would blame it on the audience.

Aruvi (attakasamana Peyar (Punai?)..)
I am not clear about your intent.
Are you talking about the Music Directors or
the Fans or in general?
Anycase, the answer is simple. Thamizh Films
are dominated by Males. Hero is more important
than Heroine hence he gets to sing more songs also
About Female singers being formally trained in Music, this is an offshoot of traditional Thamizh
family practice. PeNN piranthal Paattu Classukku

I understand what you are saying. But still it does seem unfair that those who come with no hard work gets so much recognition while some people spent years studying music and have not got the credit that they deserve. I don't know who is responsible for this situation. I believe that everyone in general prefer male voices to females. I am a fan of SPB, Yesudas, and Hariharan. But I also give a lot of credit to PS, Janaki, Chitra. And about females being the only ones trained to sing by families... isn't it about time that these old biased practices are done with!
