aruvi: App. Canada has a rule about having a certain number of hours of Canada related programming... Many US cable channels are hence not available in Canada. But I don't see how they can control a satellite channel..

CRTC has approved a channel in Canada. It should be available some times in 1999.

I have been eagerly looking forward to South Indian channels. Hopefully this will increase awareness to the rich heritage and culture of South India. I find that, outside India, the promotion of India and Indian culture is more focused on North Indian culture. I also hope that the this new channel will devote significant time to classical music and dance, which is very important for our children to be aware of.

Obviously you are new to this forum (unless you have been using a pseudonym, I have not seen you name in any of the posts). Why did you decide to reopen this thread, when there is already another thread describing the harrowing experiences of customers courtesy of SUN/ATN. Please go through that thread and then decide if you really are looking forward to "the South Indian experience". Until SUN TV decides to take care of its existing customers, there will not be a smooth transition/transmission of SUN TV programs. Please be very careful when dealing with these UNSCRUPULOUS BUSINESS ENTITIES.
A request. Could you please close/remove this thread so that there is no distraction on the business practices of Sun TV through the operation of multiple threads.

No, I did not know of another chat page. Initially when suntv was going to air on ATN, I had said "no thank you-the cost of buying a huge dish and paying 19.95/month for 15% exposure to kannads (my mother tongue) was not worth it. I have DISH network and I am thoroughly enjoying my Zee TV and TV Asia. Now that Sunworldtv will start airing in DISH network, I am waiting for the launch as I will definitely add this channel to my basket of Indian channels from DISH. I think Sunworldtv has realized that DISH network is the right platform to air this on. If you know anything otherwise please let me know. I would also be interested to know your harrowing experience. I believe this has to do more with ATN than Sunworld. This has happened once before when ATN aired AsianNetwork.
Thanks for the tip
