RAJNI - ARR ODD ?

hai all.,
a news from last week Kalki says that ARR is not fully satisfied with his decision of making music to rajni's next film - 'padayappa'. I think he is right. i won't say that the music of 'Muthu' was so good as far as ARR is concerned., what do u think. why rajni has avoided IR & has choosen ARR>what is ur comment about Muthu Music ?

  With Rajni's entry to politics(not quite) ,I think as from Arunachalam, the film projected him as God and Supreme.I feel ARR wants to do films that may suit him rather than composing songs with lyrics comparing the hero to GOD.Also Muthu's score was not good enough by ARR standards.also the standard formula for Rajni film songs is One title song,1 sorrow song and a couple of duets(This is seen in Arunachalam,Muthu ,Badsha,Yejaman,Annamalai)

  Since Rajini is now really a demi-god, therefore the expectations from ARR will be be very high. ARR would have to be competent enough to be like MSV in Ulagum Suttrum Valiban (for MGR) to be accepted as a real support for Rajini. This is a litmus test of ARR's actual comptency, no conning anyone around this time!

  I agree that there is a standard formula for the Rajni films. but I am not convinced with your explanation that ARR wants to compose only for films with substance (I think you you mean only this by standards). Take Rangeela,love-birds,Mr.Romeo,Pudhiyamugam. All of these had filthy story lines. The last one had Revathi and music as plus points and that's all. These are all good (bad!) examples to show that ARR is no choosy composer. For Rangeela he was paid toooo.. great an amount. In fact it is more difficult to work with Kamal than with Rajni. The former has a good knowledge in the music and hence shall poke his nose in order to keep the quality up. When Rajni was with IR, the latter used to care for each of the musical aspects and nobody ever wanted to cast their opinion as things would come perfect. Probably ARR is being influenced too much that he fears he may lose his original(?) style of composing. for eg. The thillana thillana from Muthu was a real garbage.

  ARR will be cursed by Rajini fans if his music does not satisfy his fans.for example, what happened to S.P.Muthuraman for the film Pandiyan?May be think because of these things he might have felt.Compared to annamalai, batsha or arunachalam, I think , apart from "oruvan oruvan muthalali" and "thillana..", nothing was a major hit from muthu. (may be some may like "Vidukathaiya").

  Muthu songs were very good, remember Kulu Vaiyilae?, it was a big hit, and Oruvan Oruvan was an exact fit for Rajni, also the thilanna song was excellent, I don't know about the sad song, it was too slow .... gut other wise it was a good album.
  The problem ARR had with Rajni's directors are that they did not use the songs properly, for example the Kokku Saiva Kokku song was wasted in Muthu, Rajni films usually do not give importance (lately) to music, and obviously padaiyappa is going to be a political one,

  II would say that what rajni got for his introduction part( the bgm ) and the song is most probably the best so far. I hope this is going to be bettered in padayappa!

  I dont understand why people are complaining about just three songs in Muthu being hits. Three superhit songs in a movie is more than what you can ask for?. Oruvan Oruvan mudalalil.. is probably the best intro' song Rajini has had.

  In Super Star's next film 'Padayappa' , I hope ARR's music w'd be very good. Because he is in very good form after releasing some hit albums like 'vande madram'. I hope the reason behind the film music 'Muthu' was tuned by ARR, while he was in lack of knowledge of Rajni's past film styles. But I guess this would not be happen again.
  But only thing I like to say Mr. ARR, He wouldn't refuse Rajni's film, while he is doing lot of hindi films. He would not forget Tamil Field which gave him a grand opening.

  first of all the topic for all these responses are based on a report from some mag. (validity ??)
  
  Who says ARR does music (be it for any hero / director or producer ) with satisfaction. else he would not be in the indian/ asian top. SO its waste of argument to discuss any further about this. Even deva or Anu malik also would does composing/copying with full satisfaction.
  
  so ARR, a geniune music composer would do his best for any one. (be it RAJINI / Manirathnam / or even of senthi -goundamani pair :-)

  You all have forgotten one thing--
  
  ARR has really taken Rajni for a ride. IR had right from the start kept Rajni's movies in good stead by giving extraordinary songs. But after Deva and ARR took up, my God - Rajni himself lost his ground and his films started to 'crumble'.

  Rajni chose the name "Padayappa" becos it denotes Lord Murugan who has "Aaru Padai Veedugal".Rahman's intro in Muthu was so outstanding that it has not only been copied in "Major Saab" by Anand Raj Anand but also used in soooooo many Ads.

  u'd be very disappointed to know that the introductory piece itself is a copy from the BGM of an Eric Mancina (MD) movie.
  That piece was used bfore in Thiruda thiruda also.
  
  In a way it was a good intro for rajni as most of his movies are "ULTA"s of some hindi movies (like badhsha from HUM )

  regarding all the talk that muthu piece suited rajni the most, IMHO the best piece for rajni was and will be "podhuvaaga en manasu thangam" from murattu kaaLai.

  Shankar, Balaji. great said, ARR's intro to muthu is no comparison to our muratukkalai song when in pongal 1983 all tamilnadu stood still because of that ultimate composisun that songs should yapply to IR.

  Even now, when muthu was released there was a great applause when "poduvAga em manasu thangam " comes in one of the scenes.
  This is called longevity of a number. U'll taken back in time when u listened to that song in muthu.

  I too read in one tamil weekly magazine that Rajni's next movie is titled GIRI which means mountain in sanskrit. ( Rajni's strong affinity to the himalayan mountain ranges is a known fact).
  Sorry to have missed the name of the magazine. But it was atleast some one month back.
  
  By the way, the BGM of "Thiruda Thiruda" is still lingering in my ears.. the main piece that comes when that container travels from place to place... MUTHU-rajini intro music is almost a repeat of that piece. I could find no significant difference between them.

  I wonder how many of you know what VERSATILE and ADAPTIBLE mean? Listen to Kadhalan, Indian, Taal Rangeela and then listen to Bombay, Roja, Dil Se and then further to Sangamam and Earth. If you don't notice the versatility that this man has, then I am sorry, you should maybe consider looking up the dictionary before you use terms like that.
  Music of the sort that you are refering to for a rajni film is not indicative of versatility. Pleeease! someone singing "naan daan autodriver" or some such nonsense with a bunch of drums rattling away in the background--such dabbankooth doesn't take a genius. A deva is enough for that, thanks. It doesn't need an ARR. On the other hand, a minsaara kanna or a suthi suthi needs an ARR. Pity you guys think it doesn't fit rajni. I am a great fan of rajni myself. Please don't insult rajni by slotting him with just grand entries with downright pedestrian music. He can use some classy music too and muthu definitely had one of the best openings for any hero that i have heard in oruvan oruvan. It was ROYAL --a fit for rajni or would you rather settle for a deva...
